Workshop - Water-wise Horticultural Practices for the Western Garden

This class covers the basics for water-wise gardening in Colorado. Learn about xeriscape misconceptions and possibilities, our regional climate and how to best conserve water in your home garden. Review specific water-wise plant options, native species, as well as plant families. Learn about soil amendments, mulching watering and weed control to keep your water-wise garden looking great all year long.

 

Annie Barrow

Annie Barrow is the manager of horticulture outreach programs at Denver Botanic Gardens. She promotes water-wise horticulture for western regions, with an emphasis on plant selection, planting design and best horticultural practices. Annie has a B.S. in horticulture and landscape design from Purdue University. While obtaining her MBA at Ball State University, she also studied in BSU’s Master of Landscape Architecture program. Annie has worked in almost every field of horticulture, including landscape design & construction, retail nursery management, interior horticulture and medical plant research. She is a L.E.E.D accredited professional and has worked in Solar PV, Solar Thermal and Energy Efficiency. Before joining Denver Botanic Gardens, she was a full-time musician in Houston, TX.
