Homeschool Day: Be A Botanist

Spend a day in the boots of a botanist and investigate plants like a scientist. Discover how plants are classified, examine herbarium specimens, and design an experiment as you get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the things a botanist might do.

 

Homeschool Days offer families the opportunity to explore plant-based themes through a variety of hands-on activities, tours and take-home projects that families can do together. Activities are designed for children ages five and up, however all ages are welcome to attend.

 

Price: $12 per day per child; One adult per child is free of charge. Additional adults and non-participating siblings over the age of two will need to pay $7 each, payable on the day of the program. The program fee includes admission to the Gardens.

Homeschool Day: Nature's Art

Join us for a day of creating, designing and crafting. Learn how nature’s colors, shapes and patterns inspire works of art as you spend the day investigating natural dyes, discovering hidden mathematical patterns and creating one-of-a-kind works of art.

Homeschool Excursion at Plains Conservation Center: Be a Homesteader - Homesteading on the Prairie

Spend a day at the Plains Conservation Center in Aurora with your family growing their knowledge of prairie living and appreciation for the natural world. Learn all about how the homesteading families and children lived on the plains in the 1800's.

Programming runs from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., with check-in starting at 9:45 a.m. You are welcome to bring a sack lunch to enjoy in our picnic area after the program. Programs may be modified in the event of inclement weather. All ages are welcome, however programming is focused for ages 5-12.

Homeschool Excursion at Plains Conservation Center: Prairie Ecology and Environmental Science

Spend a day at the Plains Conservation Center in Aurora with your family growing their knowledge of prairie living and appreciation for the natural world. Learn about the shortgrass prairie and the plants and animals that call this important ecosystem home.

Seed to Table Gardening Series for Homeschoolers

Calling all aspiring gardeners! In this five-week series of classes, homeschoolers will deepen their understanding of planting and growing a successful garden in Colorado. Grow plants from start to finish while learning to sow your own seeds and developing gardening techniques. Each week, children will engage in active hands-on learning both in and out of the classroom. At the end of five weeks each young aspiring gardener will take home a seasonal container garden.

 

Ages: This program series is designed for children ages 8-12.

 

Price: $100 per child for 5-week series. One adult per child is free of charge. Adults are required to stay onsite during the program.
