Seedlings: Harvest Treasures

Roll up your sleeves for some harvest fun! Explore the many ways autumn plants inspire art and fun. Discover colors and shapes in the garden and use plants to make a harvest-inspired masterpiece.

  • Ages 18-24 months: Wednesday, October 14, 9:15 a.m.
  • Ages 2-6 years: Wednesday, October 14, 10:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
  • Ages 2-6 years: Thursday, October 15, 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.

 

Seedlings classes offer a fun, hands-on way for young children, ages 18 months to six years, to explore the plant world while developing an understanding and appreciation for nature. Classes include interactive explorations, nature walks and stories for children and their caregivers.

 

Program Fee: $10 per toddler/preschooler, $8 per toddler/preschooler member; one adult per child is admitted free of charge. Additional adults and non-participating siblings (children over the age of 6 years) are $5 each. Non-participating infants (children under the age of 18 months) are free.

  

Registration Instructions: Pre-registration is required. Program registration will not be available onsite.

Due to social distancing and group size restrictions you must register all members of your party 18 months and older.

 

The following safety procedures and requirements are in place for attending onsite classes during COVID-19:

  • Class sizes are reduced to follow social distancing protocols. Materials used during the program will not be shared between participant groups and will be disinfected between each use.

 

  • The program will take place entirely outdoors.

 

  • Please practice social distancing – keep at least six feet away from visitors not in your party.

Seedlings: Owls!

Get ready to flap your wings as we discover whooooooo flies around the Gardens at night. We fly, hunt and hoot as we explore the amazing world of owls.

  • Ages 18-24 months: Wednesday, October 7, 30, 9:15 a.m.
  • Ages 2-6 years: Wednesday, October 7, 10:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
  • Ages 2-6 years: Thursday, October 8, 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.

Explore the many different colors, textures and sizes of Colorado grasses! Use your senses to discover native grasses growing at Denver Botanic Gardens. Plant native grass seeds to take home and care for.

  • Ages 18-24 months: Wednesday, October 21, 9:15 a.m.

Check out spider plants and some silly, slimy bugs as we take a close look at the strange and unusual plants and animals that live in a garden.

Strolling Stories Along Deer Creek

Storytime and nature hikes unite in this program at Chatfield Farms. Each week we venture out around the grounds of Chatfield Farms and investigate nature as it changes with the seasons. Along the trail we stop to read a seasonally themed story and then continue our adventure with an exploration based on the day's book.

 

Audience: Recommended for ages 3-6 years.

 

Special Instructions: This program takes place at Denver Botanic Gardens' Chatfield Farms located at 8500 W Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO 80128.

 

Program Fee: $10 preschooler, $8 preschooler member; one adult per child is admitted free of charge. Additional adults and non-participating siblings (children over the age of 6 years) are $5 each. Non-participating children under the age of 3 are free.
