Summer Camp registration begins March 1, 2010 for General/Family members and up. All others may register beginning March 8, 2010.


Discover the wonders of the plant world as you plant, paint, eat, dig and discover your way through the Gardens. Each day brings a new theme with lots of fun activities, investigations and projects to take home. KidCamp is for children ages 6-12.


Session 1: July 12-16, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Themes include:

Butterflies and Bananas: Discover how plants and animals live together in the rainforest. Read funny stories, observe poison dart frogs and find out what a clown fig is.

Winter Holidays in July: Forget about those hot summer days as you explore how plants and nature create much of our winter holiday cheer.

Color the Gardens: Draw and paint your way through the Gardens as you explore a variety of artistic techniques.

Sunny Southwest: Experience the unique and interesting lifestyle of the desert southwest by grinding corn on a matate, making a basket, creating a sand painting and more.

The Unbelievable Underground: Journey to the world underground as you explore rocks, roots, worms and beetles.


Session 2: July 19-23, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Themes Include:

Succulent Soiree: Party with the succulents and meet a few of their members including living stones, beaver tails, dragon’s blood and more.

Dragonflies and Damselflies: Explore the world of these amazing creature – where they live, what they eat and how they are different from other flying insects.

Sculpt your Life – Let your experiences inspire you as you create sculptures with a variety of materials from clay to plaster to found natural objects.

Everybody eat Bread!: Did you know people eat bread all over the word? Discover how bread is made, sample different types and even create bread art.

Put on your Plants: Spend a day working with different plant fibers – spinning, weaving and creating all sorts of wearable plants.


Fee: $229 for members, $249 for non members.


Cancellations more than three weeks prior to the start of camp are subject to a 15% cancellation fee. Cancellations with less than three weeks notice are non-refundable; please consider your payment a donation to the Gardens.
