Deborah Butterfield Family Tours

Don’t miss this season’s signature exhibition, “Deborah Butterfield: The Nature of Horses." Embark on a journey of art and nature with the whole family and explore the artwork of Deborah Butterfield. Geared toward children, these one hour guided explorations provide opportunities for families to experience art in an inspiring and active way. Recommended for children ages 4-12.

 

Price: $14 member, $26 non-member per adult/child combo. Additional adults or children can attend for $7 member, $13 non-member. Prices include admission to the Gardens.

Dia De Los Muertos

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a Mexican celebration, is a day to celebrate, remember and prepare special foods in honor of those who have departed. On this day in Mexico the streets near the cemeteries are filled with decorations of papel picado, flowers, candy calaveras (skeletons and skulls), and parades. It is believed that the spirit of the dead visit their families on October 31 and leave on November 2.

 

Family Fun Night: Campfire Tales

Gather around the campfire as we celebrate the end of summer. Make s’mores, investigate signs of fall throughout the Children’s Garden and plant a house plant to take home with you. Special guest storyteller Cliff Davidson will join us and share family friendly stories.

 

Family Fun Nights are a unique opportunity to explore nature at night in the Mordecai Children’s Garden. Each month brings a new theme with performers in Sagebrush Stage, activities in the garden, snacks and other fun night time activities. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner (no glass allowed) to enjoy in the Children’s Garden.

 

Price per night: $25, $20 member for family of four; $4, $3 member for each additional person. Children two and under free.

Family Fun Night: Full Moon Fun

Join us for an evening under the summer sky. Meet plants that have names inspired by objects in the sky, explore the phases of the moon and plant a moonflower seed to take home with you. Special guests Jeff Kagan and Paige Doughty will join us for an environmental concert for kids.
