Kid's Garden Camps

Grow your mind, plant a new friend and dig into the Gardens with our week-long day camps. Each camp contains a variety of activities that allow you discover the world of plants through art, science, cooking, gardening and outdoor exploration. Choose from a variety of different camps including one day Mini Camps held during school holidays and Week-Long Camps held at both the York Street and Chatfield locations.

 

Camp Cancellation Policy: Cancellations more than three weeks prior to the start of camp are subject to a 15% cancellation fee. Cancellations with less than three weeks notice are non-refundable; please consider your payment a donation to the Gardens.

 

Farm Camp at Chatfield: Life on the Farm

Take care of farm animals and learn what it takes to make vegetables grow on a modern farm. After your farm chores are done, discover nature along the banks of Deer Creek. Observe frogs in the pond, identify insects and search for Swainson’s hawks. This camp takes place at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. No After-Care is available. Ages 8-12.

 

Price: $239 member, $259 non-member.

 

Join us for a week on the farm at Chatfield to harvest vegetables, dig in the dirt and take care of farm animals while learning about daily rhythms outside the city. Do your part to help out on the farm by feeding the animals and maintaining the garden and discover different ecosystems on and around the farm.

Farm Camp at Chatfield: Way Back When on Hildebrand Ranch

Connect with the life of early settlers, churn your own butter, make biscuits, and even learn how to cook on a wood burning stove on the Hildebrand Ranch. This camp takes place at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. No After-Care is available.

Price: $239 member, $259 non-member.

Late Pick-Up for Camp

  

Need a few extra hours added to the camp day? Let your child spend a few more hours at the Gardens from 4:00-5:30 p.m. We'll have a variety of games and activities your child can participate in with other children. Late Pick-Up is available for all Summer Camp Sessions at York Street. Late Pick-Up is not available for Farm Camp at Chatfield or Garden Explorers during Spring Break.

 

Please note that Late Pick-Up has a minimum enrollment of five children. Late Pick-Up may be cancelled if this minimum is not met.

 

Price: $50 per child

 

Summer Camp registration begins March 1, 2013 for General/Family members and up. All others may register beginning March 8, 2013. Prior to this date, tickets will appear to be sold out.

 

Plant to Plate Cooking Series

How many plants have you eaten today? Discover the many plants you eat while learning basic cooking skills and trying out a variety of kitchen tools to create delicious snacks. Each week we’ll explore the Chipotle Home Harvest Garden and harvest fresh herbs and veggies to prepare one or two recipes that are easy to repeat at home.

 

 

Summer Camp: Art in the Garden

Awaken your passion for drawing, sculpting, painting, cooking, gardening and the art of science. We’ll explore the art of Chihuly and uncover your artistic skills. Explore the connections between plants and art through form, color and texture. This will be a full week of exploration, creativity and play.

Price: $239 members, $259 non-members. Scholarships are available, call for details.

Summer Camp: Colorado Wild

Spend the week exploring the ecosystems of Colorado. Explore plants and animals that live in our great state from your backyard up to the tops of the Rockies. Enjoy a fun week of exploration, crafts and cooking with plants!

Summer Camp: Junior Master Gardeners

June 16 – 20, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Learn what it takes to grow and maintain a garden. Investigate the wonders of plant growth and soil structure, and design and plant a garden. This program is designed for the young, interested gardener to explore plants and gardening in-depth.
