Ethnic Grocery Guide

Denver is blessed with an abundance of incredible ethnic markets – but they might seem a bit inaccessible to the casual shopper. Join Chef Elizabeth Buckingham, recently returned from extensive Asian travels, for this “virtual tour” of Denver’s ethnic grocery stores. Chef Elizabeth will provide a detailed list of the best markets in the area, plus how to shop the markets and find the best values. You’ll taste lots of interesting things you might otherwise avoid, plus leave armed with all the information you need to start shopping these unique markets on your own. Informational handout and generous food samples provided! (Please note: class will be held at DBG and students will not visit markets during class.)

Instructor: Chef Elizabeth Buckingham is a Colorado native and has just returned from a five-month round-the-world sabbatical. She earned her culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu Paris and has cooked aboard dive boats and private yachts worldwide. In 2009, Elizabeth returned to Colorado with her husband, Nicholas, and started her own private chef venture, Moveable Feast Colorado. Elizabeth teaches public and private cooking classes in the Denver area and is a certified Master Gardener; she runs a small urban homestead complete with bees, chickens and a large vegetable garden. She is an avid canner and preserver, a passionate advocate of local food, and she thinks everyone should know how to cook at least a little bit.

Price: $49, $44 members, includes $20 for materials
