Wednesday Hikes with the Gardens - Mountain Bird Hike

Take a mid-week break this summer and explore all that our beautiful state of Colorado has to offer with guided hikes. Learn about ecology through our expert horticulturists and get some fresh air with our Wednesday hike series.


Mountain Bird Hike


Join expert birder, Lynn Willcockson, for an easy hike to explore the mountains and look for birds such as Clark's Nutcracker, Red Crossbill, Rufous Hummingbird, White-crowned Sparrow, Wilson's Warbler and many more.  On this hike participants will hike in four of the Colorado Life Zones starting near Bergen Park (Foothills Zone) and  will then move up to Summit Lake (Alpine Zone).  Each Life Zone has birds unique to that Zone.


Instructor: Lynn Willcockson is a member of Denver Field Ornithologists and has led birding hikes for several years.


Price: $40, $35 members


Special Instructions: Bring your own binoculars, water and sunscreen. Please do not wear bright colors - no white, yellow, orange, or red. A jacket is suggested for the higher elevation portion of the bird hike. Bring your own sack lunch for the hike - participants will have a picnic. Directions will be emailed prior to the trip.


Location: - Meet at Fillius Park at 8:30 AM, directions will be emailed to registered participants the week before the hike.


Class length does NOT include drive time to or from our meeting place to the hiking location.
