Colorado Ecosystems Module: Shrub lands and Ponderosa Pine Forest - Offsite at Cherokee Ranch

Cherokee Ranch and Denver Botanic Gardens will be teaming up again this year to offer a new and exciting series that will focus on the beautiful rolling hills of Cherokee Ranch. Cherokee Ranch’s 3,100-acres of secluded natural environment is a living laboratory for the study of native flora and fauna. This picturesque property overlooking the Front Range from Pikes Peak to Downtown Denver will provide the perfect backdrop for a day of education and understanding. This class series will feature Botany, Ecology and Colorado’s most beautiful native species. With a combination of lecture and tours, Denver Botanic Gardens instructor, Sheridan Samano, will inspire you to appreciate the beauty of nature in a whole new way.

Cherokee Ranch encompasses more than 3,000 acres of shrubland and ponderosa pine forest habitat. In this outdoor course, learn about the area's natural history with an emphasis on physical appearance, dominant plants and animals, site characteristics, and ecological processes and use by humans. Feel free to bring a sac lunch and explore the grounds after class.
