Save the Summer- Propagation Made Easy

This series of classes is designed to address the specific interests of CSA shareholders as well as Denver Botanic Gardens’ members. Chatfield CSA shareholders and DBG members will be able to sign up for an individual class, or sign up for a package of classes.

This series will span throughout the growing season from June to October giving members multiple chances during the season to come to Chatfield and learn about local sustainable lifestyle choices. Most classes will be offered on Saturdays. There are a couple classes called “THE KIDS ARE COOKIN” which features hands-on cooking classes just for kids.

Chatfield CSA classes will be held in the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield CSA site – featuring a new outdoor kitchen facility attached to the CSA washstand and Chatfield Hildebrand Ranch Area. These classes are perfect for people interested in extending their garden or CSA harvests throughout the year as well as gaining insightful ideas for gardening, preserving or cooking from local sources.

Most classes will include a $10 materials fee because you will be taking home various products. A discount is given to CSA members and volunteers at the time of purchasing the class package or individual classes through The Denver Botanic Gardens website.

The Garden Series– This series of classes explores some very simple yet universal techniques to gardening from seed saving to general propagation techniques and composting. These classes are taught by our very own Brien Darby.

Sad to see your beautiful summer plants go? Save them! Take cuttings from your outdoor favorites and learn how to grow them successfully inside throughout the winter to create a beautiful indoor collection of color and texture. This class will also cover how to propagate from seed to get a jump on your spring vegetable and ornamental gardens.

Instructor: Brien Darby

Brien has been the manager of the community gardening program located at the York Street site for three seasons. Additionally, she oversees the propagation greenhouses located at the Chatfield site.

$30 members/non-members, includes $10 materials fee
